MUFF TO x Tank Girl
MUFF TO x Tank Girl (July 13)
It will forever baffle my brain that action movies can be deemed "boy" movies (or any one genre, for that matter). Fast cars, explosions, mean and lean paced scripts; oh yeah, sounds just horrible. We here at MUFF obviously love action movies, so we've decided that every July we'll be bowing our heads to the action gods - last year it was Lexi Alexander's Punisher: War Zone, and this year it was Rachel Talalay's Tank Girl. And holy shit, did it ever make me want to pull some too fast too furious moves in my teal minivan. (I really wish I had a cooler car, guys.)
Y'all know that our pre-show lobby fun went down, with my personal favourite speech bubble seen up above, as well as a fuckin' BEJEWELLED TANK OF OUR OWN (big ups to prop-master MUFFian Jen for making it!). Check out the tanked up QTs who made it out to the event!
Our miniMUFF short this month was Suite Spot, directed and written by Alexandra Cananzi and produced and edited by Sierra Wong. This super weird and super wonderful short about plugging into the internet sex-iverse paired great with Tank Girl for its bright colour palette and fun-loving script and I'm bet you're sad if you missed it. Check how much it looks like I'm flirting with Alex and Sierra in this next photo:
Before the flick, Rachel Talalay like the precious angel she is recorded us an amazing intro, to which I nearly blacked out because I can't handle the amount of love in my heart I have for her. And then, it was time for-
"What about the prizes, Richelle??! I WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THE PRIZES!" You may ask, interrupting. To which I will tell you to calm down for a second because I'm getting to it, you need to learn how to be patient, man.
We dealt out prize packs a' plenty with the possibility of winning:
-Two FREE tickets to any future MUFF screening
-A sexy prize pack from our friend Condom Shack
-A bag of delicious candy from The Candy Bar
-A signed copy of Tank Girl: Visions of Booga from The Beguiling
-Rachel Talalay's Ghost in the Machine or Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, or our 2015 July pick, Lexi Alexander's Punisher: War Zone from us here at MUFF!
This amazing evening left us all totally elated as it usually does, and we really can't thank our MUFF supporters enough for coming out and catching a badass flick every month. We would like to once again thank our amazing sponsors who make our screenings so much fun, as well as our special home, The Carlton Cinema! Thank you so much and we'll see you next month for Now and Then!
And don't forget:
