4/20 is fast approaching and you know what that means… National Canadian Film Day! Duh! But since you’ll all be out watching Canadian films like good little patriots on that date, we decided to do our 420 film event (which we are totally calling MUFF ‘n’ PUFF from now on) the week before! [Edit: well, guess we got a little too excited about the ol' MUFF 'n' PUFF because it turns out National Canadian Film Day is on the 19th. Huh.]
This month we will be screening the classic stoner comedy Half Baked from the amazing and inspirational Tamra Davis (Billy Madison, Crossroads, more music videos than you could shake a stick at)! As you are aware, we at MUFF take pride in screening films that often show up on those "Wow, can you believe a woman directed this?!" lists because for some reason people still have a hard time believing that women can direct things like action films, war movies or...dude-centric comedies! But they can and they do and we are here to celebrate it.
So, pre-game at home with Billy Bong Thornton (or Wesley Pipes if Kenny’s not around) for your PUFFIN’ and then head down to Carlton Cinema for some MUFFIN’! Oh, and don’t forget to bring along Jerry Garcia in a pouch… you never know when you might need him. And you know the Carlton has you covered at concessions for all the movie munchies you could ever need.
Join us in the lobby starting at 8:00 PM for photobooth fun, a very chill playlist, and a pop-up shop featuring fantastic Toronto women artisans ready to show you what they’ve got! As always, we will have some amazing prizes to give away before the screening, so don’t be late!
Our miniMUFF selection this month is the award-winning short film The Path from local director Emily Jenkins! Emily and her Director of Photography, Justin Black, will both be in attendance!
Our pop up shop will feature:
