NYC’s second screening on July 25 of JAWBREAKER brought the teen dream to Videology yet again!
We started the night off with some peachy-fucking-keen photo experiences… Each table was decked out in some fantastic candies to set the mood - thankfully with zero fatalities.
MUFF Producer Lia started off the night with a sweet introduction to our presenting partner, Big Vision Empty Wallet! Dani and Alex from BVEW came up and excitedly told the audience about their work. They are a collective of creators that help women and minorities succeed within the industry — from writer’s labs in Costa Rica to festival submissions across the States. Check them out!
Next up was an introduction from local female filmmaker Olivia Acardo and her semi-autobiographical short Cupcake Bob, touching on the topics of death, humor, the modern teenage experience, and of course, Beyoncé Knowles.
As a special treat, JAWBREAKER director Darren Stein Skyped in to chat with us about the film, show us his amazing JAWBREAKER memorabilia wall, talk about future projects, and introduce us to his adorable dog Nancy.
After JAWBREAKER, we raffled off our beautifully tormented prints from The Cotton Candy Machine's owner and artist Tara McPherson.
The night was a real treat! We lived it, learned it, and loved it.
