There's nothing we here at MUFF love more than badass women and there might not be any women more badass than The Slits. If you're wondering to yourself, "Uh, who?" well this is the documentary for you and we're super stoked to be co-presenting with Royal Stompbox, an awesome music-on-film series at The Royal Cinema.

Here to be Heard: The Story of The Slits tells the story of the first all-girl punk band, shedding light on the mid-70’s British Punk era from a female point of view. Contemporaries of The Clash and Sex Pistols and godmothers of the musical movement known as “Punky Reggae”, the film follows the band’s story from their inception in 1976, through two albums including 1979’s classic “Cut”, break up, reunion, and eventual end in 2010 with the death of lead vocalist, Ari Up.

While this doc may not be directed by a woman (they all can't, we suppose), we think there's enough raw and badass girl power crammed into it to make up for it!

The film is screening at The Royal Cinema on Monday May 14th. The pre-show starts at 7:30PM and the film starts at 8:00PM. You can buy advance tickets here.

Stay tuned for more announcements!
