MUFF x Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Before the TV show, there was the movie. Buff the Vampire Slayer, starring Kristy Swanson and also dreamy Luke Perry and just as dreamy Donald Sutherland might not be the first thing you think of when you hear Buffy the Vampire Slayer but maybe it should be? Celebrating the 1992 film directed by Fran Rubel Kuzui seemed like the obvious choice for this year's Women in Horror Month. Because what's scarier than high school, right?
Our pre-film lobby party was blessed again with more beautiful, locally-made treasures curated by our pals at Heart On. The pop-up shop featured local female artisans Marla with Gloom Matter, Sara with Sara’s Soaps & Candles, Elize with Elize Frances Art, Kim with Cursed4Life, and Richelle & Emily with the first issue of their zine "slices."
And this month's raffle prizes were pretty rad, if we do say so ourselves. Even a one-armed vampire could find a way to applaud these beauties: A copy of from our MUFF Friend The Beguiling; a candy-stuffed prize pack from our MUFF Friend The Candy Bar; a sexy surprise prize pack from our MUFF Friend Condom Shack; pair of custom-made Buffy-themed brooches from Brooch Boyfriends; a prize pack of amazing candles and soaps from Sara’s Soaps & Candles; two $50 prize packs of product AND two $50 gift certificates from Gloom Matter; and a ton of mini swag-filled prize packs from Cursed4Life.
As a special bonus, Beguiling also provided a Buffy and/or Angel comic book for everyone that attended (!!!). EVERYONE! Like, all of them!
For #miniMUFF this month, we were delighted to screen Olivia, directed by Laura Vegys. It's an animated short that fit PERFECTLY with Buffy.
And because she's literally the best, she sent us this sweet, sweet thank-you note after the screening. Y'AWWWWWW.
Thank you so much to everyone who came out and made this screening extra awesome! We know you could've been hanging out with a strange man in a graveyard hunting for vampires on a school night instead. (Actually, that sounds kind of fun...)
